In terms of content, the events of Injustice 2 take place right after Injustice: Gods Among Us: 7 years after Superman was defeated by members of the Justice League, Batman and the rest of the members have attempted to unify the world. A new faction called The Society has emerged, led by Gorilla Grodd (a smart, wicked gorilla and the Flash’s enemy) who want to take over Flash’s chaotic world.
After defeating Grodd, both factions work together to confront Brainiac, an evil alien who is the mastermind behind it all. The heroes defeated Brainiac but were split in two. Batman, Flash, Green Lantern, and Supergirl want to spare him and restore the universe together. Superman, Aquaman, Black Adam, and Wonder Woman want to eliminate the threat by killing him and using Brainiac’s ship to take control of Earth. War broke out between the two factions. The game can have one of two endings depending on the player’s choice:
- If you choose Superman, he’ll kill Brainiac and Batman using the ship to take control of Earth, and create a mind-controlled Batman to convince Supergirl to join him.
- Choose Batman to defeat Superman and Clark’s allies. Bruce traps him in the Phantom Zone and forms a new Justice League with Supergirl to take Superman’s place.
