ROM stands for “Read-Only Memory”. This is a type of memory in computers or other electronic devices in which stored data can only be read and cannot be changed. ROM is commonly used to store computer programs and important system files. The different types of ROM include reprogrammable ROM (EPROM), non-reprogrammable ROM (mask ROM), and their variants.

What types of ROMs are there?

There are different types of ROMs, depending on how data is stored and retrieved. Here are some common types of ROMs:

ROM Mask (MROM): This type of ROM is non-reprogrammable, pre-manufactured, and can only be stored once.

Programmable Read-Only Memory (PROM): This is a type of ROM that can be programmed once. The data stored in the PROM is written to by a special recording device used in the manufacturing process.

Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory (EPROM): This is a type of ROM that can be erased and reprogrammed many times. The EPROM is stored in a footboard that is designed to eliminate the possibility of physical exposure to UV light to erase data.

Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory (EEPROM): This is a type of ROM that can be erased and reprogrammed many times, using electricity instead of UV light to erase data. EEPROM is used in data storage devices such as USB sticks and memory cards.

Flash Memory: This is a special type of EEPROM used to store data in portable devices such as mobile phones and tablets. Flash Memory is capable of being erased and reprogrammed multiple times but is designed to erase and program in larger blocks than traditional EEPROMs.

What types of ROMs do you include?

ROMs include many different types, depending on the type of emulator and the game console on which it is used. Here are some common types of emulator ROMs:

NES ROMs: Includes Nintendo Entertainment System game ROMs that are played on NES emulators such as Nestopia and FCEUX.

SNES ROMs: Includes Super Nintendo Entertainment System game ROMs played on SNES emulators such as ZSNES and SNES9x.

Sega ROMs: Includes game ROMs of Sega consoles played on emulators such as Fusion and Gens.

PlayStation ROMs: Includes PlayStation game ROMs such as PSP ROMs, PSX ROMs, PS2 ROMs, PS3 ROMs, and PS4 ROMs that are played on emulators such as ePSXe and PCSX2.

Game Boy ROMs: Includes ROMs of GB ROMs, GBC ROMs, and GBA ROMs played on emulators such as VisualBoyAdvance and mGBA.
Nintendo 64 ROMs: Includes game ROMs of N64 ROMs played on emulators such as Project64 and Mupen64Plus.

GameCube and Wii ROMs: Includes Nintendo GameCube ROMs and Wii ROMs played on emulators such as Dolphin.

Note that it is illegal to download and use ROM files if you do not have legal ownership or permission to use them from the original owner of the game.
